About Us

Mana Life Nutrition is using nutrition and functional medicine to help you find your mana. When I first described nutrition and functional medicine to my husband, whose family is from Hawaii and Guam, he said, “it sounds just like what ‘mana’ is in Hawaii!”

What is mana? It is a person’s spiritual energy of power and strength; the life energy that flows through all. It is your body’s innate wisdom and power to heal itself and it is highly individual. By using personalized nutrition and functional medicine, we are giving the body the tools it needs to heal from within. We look at the whole person to identify the root cause of illness and dysfunction to get the body back into balance. We are regaining our mana.

After brainstorming names with my husband, Josh, he came up with “Mana Life Nutrition” and it stuck.

What is Functional Medicine / Functional Nutrition

Functional Nutrition is the art of personalized nutrition, which is discovering the correct foods and substances that our individual bodies need to thrive. No two people are alike, so why should we all be eating the same things? At Mana Life, we look at your labs, your gut microbiome, genetics, lifestyle, life history, and more to discover exactly what your body needs. We don’t just tell you what to eat, we teach you why and how these foods impact your body, so that you can take your health into your own hands.

Additionally, many people find they react to certain foods and when they remove them temporarily, many of their symptoms and inflammation improve. We work together to discover how and why these foods may not be beneficial to your health. But then we take that a step further and work on healing your body nutritionally so that you may be able to enjoy those foods again.

Meet Nicole Feehery-Alpuerto

Nicole is a Certified Nutrition Specialist and Licensed Nutritionist trained in Functional Medicine. She uses personalized nutrition and functional medicine principles to look at the whole person and understand the root of health issues.

Nicole graduated from the University of Western States with a masters in Human Nutrition and Functional Medicine. She then went to work with her amazing mentor, Kim Ross, where she learned all about women’s health and autoimmune disorders. After 5 years of schooling, clinical immersion, a rigorous board exam, and state licensure, Nicole branched out on her own to start Mana Life Nutrition.

As a former figure skater and current hockey power skating coach, Nicole has experienced her share of extreme injuries, including concussions. She has always been passionate about using nutrition to heal the brain after concussions and TBI, and even focused her masters thesis on nutrition for the prevention of Chronic Traumatic Encephalopathy, a  condition that afflicts many athletes and members of the military after repetitive mild TBIs. While she has experience with all conditions, she is especially skilled in nutrition for brain injury, microbiome health, autoimmune disease, and hormonal health.

Please see the Brain Injury tab for more information about her inspiration and experience!

Meet the Nurse Coach

Linda is our Nurse Coach and RN Patient Advocate, trained in Functional Medicine. She is here to guide you on your journey to health, by helping you implement the nutrition and lifestyle recommendations (Coaching), and helping you navigate through the conventional and alternative medicine space (Patient Advocacy).

It can often become overwhelming when we begin a new journey to health and wellness, especially if that involves communicating with various doctors, hospitals, and records departments, all while trying to implement new protocols. With her experience as a nurse in the conventional hospital system, and her training as an RN Patient Advocate, Linda is here to help you bridge that communication gap between your conventional doctors and your functional medicine and nutrition providers.

Additionally, if you choose to work with Linda, she will provide you with coaching to help implement the nutrition and lifestyle changes to fit your life.
